John Phillip Rush
is currently a graduate student at Indiana University enrolled in the
Early Music Institute. Mr. Rush received his Master of Music in Flute
Performance with Honors from Dr. Katherine Kemler at Louisiana State
University where he was the winner of the 1999 Louisiana Flute Society
Graduate Level Competition. Mr. Rush earned his Bachelor of Music degree
from Wayne State University and also attended Central Michigan University.
n the spring of 2002, Mr. Rush was a prizewinner in the Early Music
America Summer Study Scholarship Competition. With the money from this
competition he was able to study with Stephen Preston Baroque Flute
and Musicology Professor at The Guildhall School of Music in London.
Mr. Rush is currently a baroque flutist with the Indiana University
Baroque Orchestra; he has previously held principal positions with the
Pontiac Oakland Symphony (MI), Louisiana State University Symphony Orchestra,
the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra, the Lake St. Clair Symphony Orchestra
(MI), the Southfield Symphony (MI), the Wayne State Symphony Orchestra,
and the Central Michigan Symphony Orchestra; and has performed with
the Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra, the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic,
the Bloomington Chamber Singers, and the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra
(LA).
Mr. Rush has performed in master classes presented by James Galway,
Carol Wincenc, Stephen Preston, Janet See, Washington McClain, Bonita
Boyd, John Mack, Susan Milan, Patrick Gallois, Philippa Fullerton, Eleanor
Lawrence, Jeffery Zook, William Bennett, Ervin Monroe, Clement Barone,
and the New World String Quartet. He has performed in chamber and orchestral
settings at the Bloomington Early Music Festival, the Indiana University
Summer Music Festival, the Banff Summer Music Festival, and the Cranbrook
Music Festival. Mr. Rush has been heard on Indiana University Public
Radio (WFIU), Harmonia, Louisiana Public Radio, and Michigan Public
Radio.
While living in the Detroit Metropolitan Area Mr. Rush was the flute
teacher at the Rochester Conservatory of Music in Rochester, Michigan.
Currently a student of Kathryn Lukas, he has previously studied with
Dr. Katherine Kemler, Eva Legêne, Clement Barone, Jeffery Zook,
Dr. Joanna Cowan White, Joan Heneghan, Dr. Penelope Fischer, and Ervin
Monroe.
Marianne Breneman is a recent graduate of the University of Cincinnati
College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) where she earned an Artist Diploma
in Clarinet. Ms. Breneman earned her Master of Music in Clarinet from
Wayne State University and her Bachelor of Music in Clarinet from Michigan
State University.
Ms. Breneman has participated in many summer festivals including Aspen,
Banff, The Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, Le Domaine Forget, The
Scotia Festival of Music, The Grandin Chamber Music Festival, and Aria
International Summer Academy.
Ms. Breneman was a Concerto Competition Winner at Wayne State University
where she also received the Detroit Symphony/Wayne State Bradlin Award
for Outstanding Orchestral Musician. The Tuesday Musicale of Pontiac
(MI) awarded Ms. Breneman the Grand Prize in their annual competition
in 1995 and that same year, she was given a scholarship by the Alpha
Gamma Delta Foundation to further her musical studies. Marianne is also
a past winner of the Farmington (MI) Musicale Scholarship Competition.
Ms. Breneman has performed with many ensembles including those at CCM,
the Michigan State University Wind Symphony, the Wayne State University
Orchestra, the Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra, the Warren Symphony,
the Farmington Area Philharmonic, the Greater Lansing Symphony, the
Southern Great Lakes Symphony, and the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra
(substitute). She has presented chamber music and solo recitals in East
Lansing (MI), Ann Arbor (MI), Farmington Hills (MI) and Cincinnati and
maintains an active teaching studio.
Ms. Brenemans teachers include Paul
Schaller, Ted Oien, Frank Ell, Ron Samuels, Richard Hawley, Ron Aufmann,
and Yehuda Gilad. She was recently appointed second clarinet of the
Kentucky Symphony Orchestra.
A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Anna Klein began piano studies
at the age of four. As a teenager, she was a semifinalist in the Stravinsky
International Piano Competition and was the recipient of the Hesse Memorial
Scholarship.
Ms. Klein received a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of
Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in piano performance. As a student of Andrew
De Grado, Anna was a finalist in the Kankakee Concerto Competition and
the St. Louis Artist Presentation Society Awards. She participated and
performed at the Van Cliburn Summer Institute and the Aspen Music Festival.
Selected to compete in the World Piano Competition, Ms. Klein performed
at the Aronoff Center for the Arts in Cincinnati, Ohio.
In May 2002, Anna Klein graduated with a Master of Music degree in piano
performance from Manhattan School of Music, where she studied with Jeffrey
Cohen. Ms. Klein has performed as soloist and chamber musician in the
New York and New Jersey metropolitan area. This past summer, Ms. Klein
participated and performed at the Aria International Summer Academy.
In addition to serving as a judge for the Andrew De Grado Foundation
Competition, Ms. Klein continues to make appearances and performances
in support of the foundation. Recent recitals include Kean University,
Clifton Arts Center in New Jersey, and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
She was a featured guest and performer on the New Jersey cable syndicated
"George Knorr Show" of Video on the Go.
In November 2002, as a Special Artist Presentation Awards Winner, Anna
made her New York recital debut at Weill Hall of Carnegie Hall, represented
by Artists International Presentations, Inc. Other solo performances
this season have included recitals in Missouri, Illinois and California.
An active chamber musician, Ms. Klein currently is working with the
Delicato Ensemble, a group dedicated to the performance of new works
by commissioned composers and lesser-known works in the repertoire,
in addition to music educational outreach in elementary and high schools.
The Delicato Ensemble has performed at Indiana University in Bloomington,
Indiana and has given concerts in the greater metropolitan areas of
Detroit, Michigan and Cincinnati, Ohio.
Currently, Ms. Klein lives in Brooklyn, New York.
