John Wu

John Wu is a seventh grade student with high honors at Clinton Public School in Clinton, and attends the ninth grade math class at North Hunterdon High School. John started piano lessons at the age of six with Christopher Hall in Columbia, Maryland. Between 1999 and 2001, John won first place three times in the Maryland Teacher Association's competitions for Piano Solo and Piano Ensemble. He also won numerous awards in Howard County piano competitions. In the summer of 2001, John moved to New Jersey with his family and started taking piano lessons with Tomoko Harada of Basking Ridge.

Since his move to New Jersey, John has been a winner of the Piano Teachers Society of America (PTSA) competitions in Sonata, Asian Music category, and Ensemble category (with his brother), and has performed for the past two consecutive years at Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall in New York. He was also awarded High Honors from the NJMTA annual audition, and was selected to perform at the Honors Recital of the Somerset County Annual Piano Auditions. In addition to playing piano, John plays the cello in the school orchestra. He is also a member of the community baseball and soccer teams. For quiet time, John enjoys reading books. He also loves collecting stamps.

John Wu is a winner in the 2003 Fifth Annual Andrew De Grado Piano Competition in the soloist category with his performance of the Minstrels by Debussy.
