Elizabeth Schwartzman
Elizabeth Schwartzman is
a senior at Dwight-Englewood School in Englewood. Her piano studies began
at the age of four. She graduated from the Manhattan School of Music Preparatory
Division last year and is presently continuing her studies privately with
Irina Morozova of Fort Lee.
Elizabeth is the winner of numerous competitions. As a first place winner
in 2003 and a winner in 1998 of the Young Pianists Competition of
New Jersey, she performed in Weill Recital Hall of Carnegie Hall in New
York. In 2002, Elizabeth was a winner of the AMSA World Piano Competition
in Cincinnati, Ohio. In 2001, she was a winner of the 21st Annual Bartok-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev
Competition in Maryland and a winner and performer of the 6th Concourse
Internacional de piano Nicolai Rubinstein, which was held in Paris, France.
In 2000, Elizabeth was a MSM Concerto Competition winner and performed
Kabalevskys Youth Concerto with the MSM Symphony Orchestra under
the direction of Maestro Jonathan Strasser. That same year, she performed
in the Kiev Philharmonic as a winner of the Vladimir Horowitz Competition
in Kiev, Ukraine and as a Third Prize winner and performer at the winners
concert in the Concurso Internacional de Piano, in Puicerda, Spain. Through
the years, Elizabeth has been invited to and has performed in Meranofest,
a festival held in Merano, Italy; St. Petersburg, Russia; Kiev, Ukraine;
Paris, France; Puigcerda, Spain. Communication while traveling abroad
is no obstacle for Elizabeth, since she speaks multiple languages, including
Russian, Spanish, and Latin.
In addition to Elizabeths musical accomplishments, she is a published
poet, for which she has received the International Poet of Merit award,
and the 2003 Outstanding Achievement in Poetry Silver Award and was selected
to be featured in the anthology, Best Poems and Poets of 2003.
She has a deep interest in literature and also enjoys challenges in mathematics
having spent the summer of 2003 learning Linear Algebra and Comparative
Literature. In addition to her multiple interests, Elizabeth is a National
Merit Scholarship Semi-Finalist and is being indoctrinated into the Cum
Laude Society. In her spare time, she volunteers at a community hospital.
Elizabeth Schwartzman is a winner of the 2003 Fifth Annual Andrew De Grado
Piano Competition in the soloist category with her performance of Rigoletto-Paraphrase
by Verdi-Liszt.
