Yifei Chen
Yifei Chen is a sophomore at West
Windsor Plainsboro High School North. He has been practicing the piano
for seven years and has been studying piano with Yan Mei (Jennifer)
Bao of East Brunswick. During the four years Yifei competed in the annual
New Jersey Music Teachers Association’s (NJMTA) competitions, he
won the Annual Audition High Honors Award four times. In addition, Yifei
won third-place two times in NJMTA’s Young Artists Piano Competition
and received honorable mention two other years. Also, Yifei was a winner
in the Cecilian Annual Young Artist Piano Competition and performed
in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in New York. Yifei passed the
seventh grade Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music Examination
with distinction and is now seeking to receive the Associated Board's
DipABRSM diploma for musical performance. His other interests include
mathematics, computers and sports. Yifei is a member of the West Windsor
Plainsboro cross-country team.
Yifei Chen was a winner in the 2002 Fourth Annual Andrew De Grado Piano
Competition in the soloist category with his performance of the Etude
in D flat Major No. 3, Un sospiro by Liszt.
