Shoni Oey lives in Princeton Junction and attends
sixth grade at West Windsor-Plainsboro Community Middle School. She
studies piano with Ingrid Clarfield of Princeton and violin with Ann
Setzer. Shoni is the recipient of various awards and honors. In 1999,
Shoni won First Prize in the Chiang Wen-Yeh International Piano Competition,
and First Prize in the New Jersey Music Teachers Association
(NJMTA) piano concerto competition. In addition, Shoni has been awarded
First Prizes and High Honors at the NJMTAs piano and violin
competitions. In 2001, she played piano and violin in the Honors Recitals
of the Chinese American Cultural Association Young Artists Competition
and also received Honors in the Korean American Young Musicians Competition
in New York. Shonis interests and hobbies include science, crafts,
skating, reading and writing.
Shoni Oey was a winner in the 2002 Fourth Annual Andrew De Grado Piano
Competition in the soloist category with her performance of the Ballade
by Debussy.
