Pierre Miller is a sophomore at Mount Olive High School in
Budd Lake. Pierre has studied piano for about ten years. He started
learning to play the piano at the age of five. His first consistent
piano training lasted for about five years with Neil Innes and ended
when Mr. Innes moved to Kentucky. He has had various instructors since
then, until he finally found his present teacher, Sophie Goldblatt
of Succasunna. Pierre has been studying piano with Mrs. Goldblatt
for over two years. During Pierres elementary and middle school
years, he was placed in the Gifted and Talented Music Program and
participated in three school recitals. In January 2001, he was selected
among the Best of Morris Talented Youths and performed at the Community
Theatre in Morristown, New Jersey for the Childrens Museum fundraiser.
Pierre is the winner of the Third Annual Andrew De Grado Piano Competition
and performed earlier this year at Kean Universitys Wilkins
Theatre. Also, he won the 2002 Goldblatt Competition and a talent
show at his school in 2001. Pierre is the piano accompanist for the
choral ensemble student groups at his school. He has not studied any
instruments other than the piano, but hopes to in the future. Pierre
is also interested in sports and has signed up at his school for winter
indoor track. Besides music and sports, Pierre is interested in science,
math, and animals.
Pierre Miller was a winner in the 2002 Fourth Annual Andrew De Grado
Piano Competition in the soloist category with his performance of
Rhapsody in G Minor by Brahms.
